Going North – Day 27

Hi Everyone, Day 27.

I decided to come back via the east side of the island after all. Today I came back down the river which was surprisingly hilly with all the snow mounded on top. As soon as I got back out into the ocean there were more pressure ridges but nothing too big today.

I’m often asked if I take any keepsakes on my expeditions, the only items I take are two pieces of thread I wear on my wrist. Traditionally for rhakari sisters tie this thread on their brothers each year. Since I was a little girl, I would tie the rhakari on my brothers wrists for their love and protection. A few years ago, I told my brothers that I wanted them tied on me too because that love and protection should go both ways. That is the only additional item I have with me on every expedition.
