Attempting to go North

Over the last three years I’ve completed three solo expeditions in Antarctica, gaining four Guinness World Records. It has been an incredible journey.

Now I’m aiming to go North, as far as I can towards the North Pole, starting from Canada.

The journey is less than 500 miles but I will be on sea ice which is moving, making it even more challenging.

I will have to cross sections of open water, climb over rough ice and deal with temperatures of -50deg.

Currently no female has travelled solo to the North Pole. There is a slim chance that I will actually make it to the North Pole – but wouldn’t it be incredible if I did!

I believe it is important to push ourselves outside of our comfort zone and try, even if there is a high chance of failure. I hope to inspire others to try something even if it’s difficult to reach the end. There is beauty in the journey itself.

I’m not conquering anything, I’m attempting something that we don’t know is even possible. But those that know me know that I will give it my all and leave nothing on the table.

Funding is one of the most difficult things for expeditions. If you are able to support financially or know anybody who may be interested, please let me know.

We Rise by Lifting Others

Last week I was fortunate enough to be on the Twin Otter aircraft to drop off Hege Victoria on her solo and unsupported expedition to the South Pole.

Last year I set the female speed record. This year she aims to beat it and I’m cheering her on all the way.

We only met a couple of days ago before she left but her determination and courage is apparent. She’s an exceptional human being.

A few people have asked me how I feel about someone going to break the record I set. I feel proud and hope that I can help them achieve it. I truly believe we rise by lifting others and there is more than enough room for all of us.

Mehndi

Heading back out to Antarctica 🇦🇶

And got some beautiful mehndi to match! In the past, I can only remember getting my mehndi done for weddings but figured you can get it done for any occasion.

Flying to Chile today and Antarctica on the 10th so hoping to make it last as long as possible!

Love the outline of the map split across both hands ❤️

Huge thank you to @hennabysireen
I absolutely love it.

british exploring society

What’s inside the brown envelope?!

Receiving my brown envelope with the legend that is Steve Jones.

A great evening with British Exploring Society. They take young people on expeditions all over the world, teaching you all of the skills to help you get there.

I wish I could put into words how something like this can change your life.

Not sure or don’t believe in yourself? I completely understand, I feel that way a lot. Check it out anyway. You’d be amazed at what you can do 🙌🏽

Back to Antarctica (to work) 🇦🇶

I spent the last three Antarctic summer seasons (Nov – Jan) doing an expedition and as much as I have loved doing these trips it was a busy and expensive few years!

I have learnt so much from my time on the ice which is why I’m so excited to go back – not on an expedition but I’ll be working at Union Glacier camp with Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions as part of the guest services team.

I will be living in a tent for a couple of months out on the ice (but not pulling all of my kit and equipment on the ice).

Looking forward to being back on the ice in a couple of weeks 🇦🇶

the end of an era

The end of an era. I’ve been in the Army for a total of 16 years and that time has come to an end.

In 2008, I saw a sign for the British Army in Derby City Centre and ending up joining the Territorial Army where I joined as a private soldier. My first experience of “camping” was putting up a basher!

The Territorial Army became the Army Reserves, we changed from DPM to MTP and a lot Velcro. I loved it so much that I decided to join the Regular Army.

A big part of me grew up in the Army. I have loved being part of this incredible community, I have learnt so much and thank those that have supported me.

The last couple of years, I have been taking unpaid leave to do expeditions and I’ve been on my career break over the last year. I’m not planning an expedition this year but there is so much I want to do. And though I have loved being part of the Army, it is just not possible to do both.

Although I’ll no longer be serving, the values and lessons I’ve learned during my time in the Army will always be a part of who I am. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey.

next home

I’m not a fan of unpacking, it’s something I would quite happily do over a year period and then it’s probably time for me to move again 🤣

We moved into the new place a few weeks ago but have both been away. I came back a few days early to put a few bits together like the bed, the sofa etc (I had help) to surprise Dave with a slightly put together house. Bought this orange(ish) sofa from a charity shop in Derby a few years ago and wasn’t sure about the colour initially but now love it 🧡

I wasn’t planning to put any photos up but then saw this one on the side – Mai Bhago, gifted to me a couple of years ago by @punjabcoventgarden

Mai Bhago was a Sikh woman who led Sikh soldiers against the Mughals in 1705. She was a skilled warrior on the battlefield and known as a warrior saint. Quite the inspiration to go up in the new home ❤️

Guinness world records 2025

Pretty cool to be chosen as an icon and have a two page spread! Page 140 if you want to check it out.

But most importantly, I love having a photo of my Baba Ji (grandad) in there.

I guess it’s ok that my brothers are in it too 🤣

My earliest memories of Guinness World Records was the longest fingernails!

Aparjita – “Saluting Womanhood”

A few days ago, I attended the Aparjita awards ceremony, in Kolkata.

13 years ago Ruchika Gupta wanted to honour the remarkable work of women and created Aparajita. They have supported women in fields from culture, sport, education and so much more.

I was surrounded by people phenomenal women. What an honour to share a stage with them.

I was seated at a table with some amazing women.

Prof Somdatta Sinha who was awarded the lifetime achievement award from her redefining work in theoretical biology. Dr Tawheedi Makhdoomi (child rights activist) who was awarded the protector of child rights award.

What an incredible community to be part of.

Thank you @sanmarg.aparajita

Armed forces day

I joined the British Army (Royal Army Medical Corps) as a private soldier 16 years ago after seeing an advert in Derby City Centre.

I learnt how to work as a team, how to lead and be led, met some incredible people and made life long friends and memories. And so much more..

In Arduis Fidelis

To all past and present service people and their families. Happy #ArmedForcesDay.

📸 first image is from 2008/2009. I think I’m doing my CMT (Combat Medical Technician) training in Glenrothes

posted a couple of days after Armed Forces Day.
